GAME OVER

Yes, everything comes to its end and this school year too.  It's been quite a long hard season but really profitable too, at least for most of my students, who I'd like to wish the best summer to.
The bottom line is, from my point of view, the complete success of the students considering the amount of projects that they have taken part in.  Many of them have developed their tasks far beyond my initial expectations and we can count their results as optimal.
First of all, the implementation of this digital magazine which has received more than 6500 visits from 27 countries in its first six months; so we will try to consolidate and improve this project next year with some more students and sections. They also carried out the renewal and decoration of their classroom as you can see in the video in the post below by dedicating part of their free time on it.
Students in 3º ESO have shown great talent by making remarkable slideshow presentations in class.  Many of them have proved good skills with ITCs and to be proficient at speaking to an audience.
Even students in 3º Diversificación got better results at the end than they had in the first term.
1º Bachillerato have also worked well in and out of class. They had a school trip to London as we told in this same magazine last April as a prize for their hard work and good behaviour in class.  You can enjoy their videos by clicking the tab "students' videos" above.
And finally, what to say of my veterans!! 2º bachillerato has done it really well in PAEG so most of them will be able to choose their first options at university.
So, enjoy your well deserved summer holiday at your best, relax and we'll see in September.

4º D A CLASS REPAINTING

It's almost done! the new look of the classroom B4 can be seen.  One day after Easter holidays the ten students of 4ºD started to complain about how old, dirty and plenty of holes that the wall of the classroom were.  After a little chat their tutor teacher suggested making a project and no more than 15 minutes later they came up with a draft of what the new B4 would be.
After talking to the headteacher and the expenses approval they got down on it; they bought paintings and the refurbishing began.  Giving much of their little free time they went to work after classes, in the evenings.
Many schoolmates wondered with curiosity what was going on there, and when the first results started to appear they showed interest and respect for the work.
In the video below you have a small part of the whole process of change of the class. Hope you like it.

MareNostrum is a supercomputer in the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, the second most powerful in Spain and one of the seven supercomputers in the Spanish Supercomputing Network. It was presented by IBM and María Jesús San Segundo, the Spanish Minister of Education and Science.
The supercomputer consists on 2,560 JS21 blade computing nodes, each with 2 dual-core IBM 64-bit PowerPC 970MP processors running at 2.3 GHz for 10,240 CPUs in total.
The computing nodes of MareNostrum communicate primarily through a high bandwidth, low latency Myrinet network consisting on integrated Myrinet adapters on each server blade and switched fabric of 12 Myrinet switches. In addition, there is a more traditional local area network consisting of Gigabit Ethernet adapters and five Gigabit Ethernet switches (oneForce10 E600 and four Cisco 3550s). Servers are connected to this network by over 180 Ethernet switching blades made by BLADE Network Technologies.
The MareNostrum supercomputer has 20 TB  RAM and 280 TB external disk storage for persistent storage

Paul, is a science fiction and comic film, released in 2011 by Greg Mottola and written by and starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, with Seth Rogen as the voice of the title character.  There are three versions of the film. The film contains numerous references to other science fiction films. Critical reaction to the film was generally positive.

The plot of the film is very humoristic because, the main characters are always asking to the extraterrestrial about his planet. The main characters are two sci-fi geeks who take a pilgrimage to America's heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who brings them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever. For the past 60 years, an alien named Paul has been at a top-secret military base. When he discovers he's been taken prisoner, he decides to escape and hop on the first vehicle out of town. Chased by federal agents and the fanatical father of a young woman that they accidentally kidnap, Graeme and Clive hatch a fumbling escape plan to return Paul to his mother ship. This experience take his fellow outcasts from misfits to intergalactic heroes.

In my opinion, this film makes you think about what the people can do to help each other, the film teaches us about loyalty, but always from the side of humor. The extraterrestrial Paul is a little crazy, because he is always doing madness.
